SAMANTHA FIN

MVA - RM - DIPCounsel - MACounsel/Psych (current)

On a personal and professional level, I know the power that comes from cultivating and nurturing wellness on a metaphysical level - through awareness and understanding that our mind, body, heart, and soul work as an integrated whole.

My path to becoming a therapist was anything but linear, accruing much needed (and some not) life experience along the way. At university, I worked as an ABA Therapist (Applied Behavioural Analysis) and following my Masters, where I researched the link between perception and psychology, I pursued a creative life - working as a writer, and artist. It wasn’t until I became a mother that I decided to answer the call to be in full service to my community and complete my studies as a holistic therapist.

In my practice, I utilise modalities such as traditional counselling and psychotherapy, meditation and other mindfulness practices, reiki, art, play, and more. My signature program, SomaSocratics, is an exploration into narrative, creative and somatic practices that help to build self awareness, acceptance, coping strategies and personal resilience. I find that a combination of elements allows me to create a bespoke experience for each and every person that comes through my door, and I feel very blessed to be doing this work.

I specialise in working with women and mothers (in all stages of their parenting journey), teens and children over the age of twelve.

PHILOSOPHY

(n) (p: *mei-tri*). The name Matri is multifaceted. Based on the Sanskrit word Maitri meaning loving kindness and friendship, it is also a direct connection to the latin, Matri, meaning ‘mother’ or ‘womb’.

The word Matri is used as a prefix, and is used in words like matrilineal meaning 'maternal lineage' and matrix, meaning ‘something within, or from, which something else originates, develops, or takes form’. It is no surprise then, that through mindfulness, we become aware of the present moment through acceptance; forming a realisation of our own power and ability to heal and shape our reality.

The name Matri is also inspired by the Matrimandir, in Auroville, a monument dedicated to holistic unity and universal peace and is also what inspired our gold logo.

Matri Holistic: The development and cultivation of a warm and inviting environment designed to support your journey back to Self through peace, strength and loving kindness.
